In 2011 we moved to Seaburn from London to live a stone's throw from the beach. Since then I have seen the sea and beach virtually every day and love it. It has infinite variety dependent on the weather, the time of year, the time of day and the tides.

I was very fortunate today to have a trip up Roker Lighthouse. It is currently undergoing refurbishment with plans to open up to the public later this year. This will include the opportunity to walk out to the lighthouse through the old bad weather access tunnel under the pier.
This is the light, which is still in use, and is a fraction of the size of the old one.
View from the lamp room looking south.
View from the lamp room looking north.
View back along the pier. This may look like an old picture but it's just a bit misty as it was taken through a closed window.
The external work has been done and work has started on the inside. For some pictures of the inside, look here.

Hawthorn Hive
No sea here but the walk down to Hawthorn Hive through Hawthorn Dene is glorious at this time of year.
